Taunton Deane Borough Council is giving its full support to the
campaign for Taunton to become a Business Improvement District
(BID).
The Council will be a vital partner if businesses vote in favour
of the BID this July. It will conduct the ballot, make sure BID
revenues are collected, and perform other BID services on behalf of
Taunton Town Centre Company which is running the campaign.
If the BID vote is successful, existing Council services to town
centre businesses will remain firmly in place, as required by law,
and like other organisations within the town centre it will also be
paying its BID levy.

Mr John Williams, Leader of the Council, felt the BID “is a
fantastic opportunity for the Council and businesses to work closely
together and collectively deliver what is in the best interests of
Taunton and its community.
“I’m extremely proud that Taunton is taking this ambitious step as
it fits in very well with the regeneration of Taunton as a whole.
“The BID gives businesses the ability to choose how they best spend
the money put into the collective pot. We welcome the opportunity to
support this and pay our levy alongside others, on properties
belonging to Taunton Deane.”
