 Bath
Place is a delightful narrow
street of cottages mixed with an
assortment of individual shops
offering an amazing range of goods
and services.
It is believed that in the middle
ages, this narrow lane was the
main route into Taunton - a not
impossible situation, when you
consider that the roads were so
bad that goods were moved by
pack-horse and people either rode
or walked. The street was
straightened in the 18th Century
and all the buildings date from
this time.
 On
any day you have a choice of
having your hair done or your body
pierced before having lunch in a
choice of venues - cafe, pub or
restaurant. Then you may shop for
arts and crafts, jewellery, glass
ware, fresh flowers and
vegetables, buy a book or a
greetings card, get the latest
computer game and many more
options. All the shops are
privately owned and offer a very
personal service.

a thriving craft retail co-operative has gained an
enviable reputation for having one of the West Country's
finest selections of contemporary crafts.
Makers is owned and managed by the makers themselves and
displays a varied collection of their work. A maker is
always on duty in the shop to discuss all aspects of the
work as well as commissions.
Exhibitions by guest artists and craftsmen take place in
the upstairs gallery on a regular basis. |
