to the disabled or disadvantaged
visitor.
Shopmobility is for people who have
either permanent or temporary limited
mobility. It allows them greater
independence to move around the towns
shopping areas by providing powered
and unpowered wheelchairs and
scooters.
The Shopmobility scheme meets
Department of Transport criteria
ensuring a high level of service. It
is situated in the
Old
Market Car Park and parking is
only 40 metres away. Accessible Toilet
Facilities are also available.

How much does
Shopmobility cost?
The service is free but any donations
will be gratefully received.
How does
Shopmobility work? Shopmobility
is a sort of club. Anyone wanting to
use the service should join by
printing out filling in the
form (you will need the
free version of
Adobe Acrobat Reader to
view this form). Bring this together
with some form of identification (a
driving licence or library card will
do) to the office. You can do this the
first time you want to use any vehicle
- but it would be a good idea to book
first to make sure what you want is
available.
You can book chairs and scooters in
advance by calling at the office or by
telephoning Taunton (01823) 327900.
You are recommended to give at least
one day's notice as all vehicles may
already be committed if you arrive
without booking.
You,
or your companion, will be able to use
specially reserved car parking spaces
next to the office.
You can have a demonstration of the
powered chair or scoota by a member of
staff. There is an area in which you
can practice - then it's off to the
shops.
One of the most quaint areas for specialist art and
crafts, food and hobbies, is Bath Place. Situated just off
