The
North Circuit - From The Railway
Station to the Market House
The North Circuit is the longest
circuit within Taunton Town Centre and
there is a wide and diverse range of
shops and restaurants along its route.
With Taunton Swimming Pool on its path
its also a great place to bring the
children and then stroll to one of the
many places offering refreshment and
general refuelling.
Most daytime eating and drinking
places are closer to the heart of the
town centre with the exception of the
restaurants. For the evening you will
find most of the
takeaways closer to the railway
station on Station Road. It is here
that you will also find some of the
smaller quality restaurants offering a
range of cuisine styles and fine wines
from around the world. However, it is
always recommended to book in advance. |

-
Cafes
and Cafe Restaurants - There
are quite a few of these but most are
found on North Street and Bridge
Street. But don't forget those off the
main streets such as Riverside Place
and the Courtyard, which are
great places for refuelling as you can
sit outside or in.
-
Pubs and Pub Grub - If you
prefer a pint with your meal then
why not stop for lunch at the many
public houses that provide both. On
the North Circuit you will find the
best places start from Station Road
and end at North Street. Places such
as the Kings Arms, The Coal Orchard
and Millers are just a few that
offer good food and good value.
-
Sandwich Bars & Takeaways -
The cafes already mentioned serve
sandwiches and light meals but if
you are on the move and need a
takeaway then you'll find a variety
of bakeries and local businesses
that serve freshly made goods
throughout the North Circuit. In the
evening most takeaways such as kebab
shops, pizza places, Indian and
Chinese takeaways are mainly found
on Station Road, with traditional
fish and
chips in St James Street.
-
Restaurants - For that table
service and fine wine the North
Circuit offers many styles from
around the world and like most
restaurants you will find these
mainly open at night. You can choose
Cantonese, Indian, French, Italian,
English and Chinese. Most are
situated between the railway station
and Bridge Street.
