Ensuring That
Your Visit
is Trouble Free
There are some things that affect your
entrance or exit to Taunton Town
Centre. Some for celebrative reasons
and some for maintenance reasons. But
whatever is the cause we aim to
provide you with expected disruptions
so you can plan ahead.

Carnival Night - October
A yearly celebration of costume,
floats, lights and fun held through
Taunton Town Centre on a Saturday
evening in the Autumn. Consequently
certain roads within the town will be
closed until the event is over.
Make a date for 2006 carnival -
October 14th
2006
It is therefore recommended to park in
the town centre before the roads close
or park in one of the car parks or
streets outside the town centre. The
following roads are normally closed
for this event:
-
Priory Bridge Road
-
Station Road
-
East Street
-
North Street, Fore Street and Bridge
Street
-
Hammet Street

Remembrance
Day - Poppy Day
The British Remembrance Day is always
held on the 11 November. This is the
day that World War One ended in 1918,
when the armistice was signed in
Compiègne, Northern France, at 5am.
Six hours later, the fighting stopped,
and to commemorate this there is a two
minute silence in the UK at 11am,
every 11 November.
The nearest Sunday to the 11th
is called Remembrance Sunday, when
church services are held in honour of
those involved in wars, and wreaths
are laid on the memorials which have a
place in every town. For that reason
Taunton Town Centre's traffic is
halted for around one hour. |
