Taunton Town Centre Company Ltd
Nearly everyone who lives, works or visits Taunton depends on
the town centre for a wide variety of services and functions.
These vary from access to public services, shopping,
entertainment, leisure, culture, transport, government and
public administration and trade and commerce. But it goes a
little further than that!
Taunton boasts a wide variety of historic and architectural
heritage, open green spaces, events and tourist attractions and
the town has an active role to play in the future economic
prosperity of the South West region Management of all these
elements is key to making
Taunton
town centre successful and offers assurance that Taunton remains
that special and unique County town of Somerset….Taunton Town Centre Company Ltd has a key role to play in co-ordinating all
the activities in the town to achieve a successful whole and to
ensure that Taunton achieves its full potential in the
future.
To ensure Taunton's prosperity and
well-being the Taunton Town Centre Company Ltd was created as a
joint venture funded by Taunton Deane Borough Council, Taunton
Chamber of Commerce, Somerset County Council, local and national
businesses.
Town
centre management is best described as the art of place-
making, building and sustaining competitive locations through,
the enhancement of the public realm physical and economic
regeneration and the creation and maintenance of a healthy
business environment, through destination marketing and
co-ordinated management.
Our Mission
The overall objective of Taunton Town Centre Company Ltd is to
work, with all stakeholders, to maintain and continuously
enhance, Taunton’s position as the premiere retail
destination for the sub- region, through consistently sound and
innovative management. To act as a catalyst to achieve Taunton’s
full potential as a regional centre and a Principal Urban Area.

Marketing and Communication

To actively encourage partnership working

To promote the Town Centre through agreed
innovative and co-ordinated marketing activity involving all
areas of the private and public sector

To develop the town as a tourist destination

To establish the town as a gateway to the South
West peninsular

Increasingly,
people expect to be able to find a measure of information
about their intended destination and their local area in an
easily accessible form on the Internet. When funds permit, a
presence on the web will be established to illustrate what the
town has to offer in terms of shopping, services, other
businesses and facilities. This is achieved by working closely
with design company ADK Ltd and to ensure ADK Ltd's continued
sponsorship which to date has reached a value of £2000

improvements and developments in the town i.e. Taunton in
Bloom, the River Tone Partnership, Graffiti squad

partnership schemes for improved safety and security i.e. TRAC
and Pub-watch

the press to reduce the fear of crime through proportionate
reporting

Ensure safe
shopping for everyone.

all agencies and the Council to deliver a range of
leisure facilities and activities for all ages.
